10 minute instant pot applesauce

This recipe is SO easy. I’ve always been a fan of making homemade applesauce because I grew up making it with my mom. We still make it together from time to time. She taught me to buy the ‘seconds’ at the orchard. They’re usually bruised and not the prettiest, but there’s always a wonderful variety in the bag which gives the sauce a great flavor. I keep the skin on for added nutrients and a beautiful color.

For this recipe, all you will need is;
12 apples, washed & cored (peeled if you wish)
1 cup of water
1-2 teaspoons of cinnamon
Sugar to taste (if you want to sweeten it but I don’t add any)
Instant pot

1. Cut the apples into chunks.
2. Add them to the instant pot with the water.
3. Cook on high pressure for 10 minutes.
4. Manually release the steam.
5. Blend using an immersion blender if you want it smooth, or process through a food mill or a fine wire mesh strainer.
6. Add the cinnamon and enjoy!
This will keep for 5 days in the fridge or 2 months frozen.
